The First International Symposium on Marine Natural Products (MaNaPro) took place in 1975 in Aberdeen, Scotland. The First European Conference on Marine Natural Products (ECMNP) was celebrated in 1997 in Athens, Greece. MaNaPro and ECMNP have triennial and biennial frequencies, respectively. The first MaNaPro & ECMNP joint meeting occurred in 2013 in Galicia, Spain. After 6 years, a second joint meeting took place in Peniche, Portugal, on 1-5 September 2019. Ten years after the first joint meeting, MaNaPro and ECMNP will celebrate again a joint meeting in 2023 in Granada, with a primary focus on different aspects of marine natural products research, including ecology, isolation and structural elucidation, synthesis, drug discovery and development, structural methods, chemical biology and biotechnology, genomic tools, metabolomics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Over the past 48 years there have been 17 editions of MaNaPro and 13 editions of ECMNP held in several countries:
